Happy New Year’s Eve!
2012 has certainly been an interesting year. This year I was able to visit all three major music cities – New York City, Los Angeles, and Nashville. I started 2012 with a fun family trip to New York. It was my first time visiting New York City and I’m happy that I finally got to visit. I definitely want to go back one day.
Some highlights from 2012 include:
-Trip to New York City
-Meeting Lady Antebellum at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo
-Getting to see a soccer game at the new BBVA Compass Stadium, taking a road trip to see the new MSC in College Station, and attending a baseball game at the new Constellation Field
-The Grammy Awards – I traveled to Los Angeles with a friend to attend the awards and got to see some of the best musicians in various genres perform and receive awards. It was really cool to see one of the artists I worked with win a Grammy.
-Coldplay Concert – I had never attended a Coldplay concert and really enjoyed it. The show had laser lights, confetti, and awesome wristbands that glowed during certain songs.
-Summer Olympics – It was fun watching the summer olympics. I loved watching the swimming and gymnastics and cheering on Team USA :).
-Move to Nashville – In August, I moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University for grad school. This is probably the furthest I’ve moved away from home…not sure where I’ll be in the next few years though.
-I took a quick trip back to Texas in October for ACL. It was my first time attending ACL, and it was a lot of fun and I’m glad the weather cleared up. I was so happy to see Needtobreathe perform and many other bands. Hopefully I can see The Lumineers perform again…the crowd was too packed at ACL so I couldn’t really see them.
-After moving to Nashville for school, I’ve been able to meet many people in the music industry, participated as an extra a couple times on the set of Nashville (ABC), attended the Country Music Awards and the CMA Country Christmas taping, volunteered at various music industry things like the CMA Gifting Lounge, and attended the Grammy Nominations Concert.
-Getting to spend time with my family and friends – I’m glad that I got to spend time with my family and friends at various times throughout 2012. This year, we had an addition to the family with the birth of my niece. It’s always great catching up with family and friends that I have not seen in a while.
I’m hoping for more adventures in 2013. Have a Happy 2013 and may the new year bring you good health, happiness, and success.
